Anna McNay comes from an academic background, as a doctoral candidate, tutor, and lecturer in German and Linguistics at the University of Oxford, and an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at the Humboldt University in Berlin. She is also a qualified and experienced CELTA tutor.
Anna recently transferred her research skills to the art world, beginning with a research internship at Turner Contemporary, Margate. From May to September 2011, she was an exhibitions assistant at Matt Roberts Arts. In May 2011, she curated [ Word Incarnate ] at Trinity Arts Centre, Tunbridge Wells. More recently, she curated Anything Goes? Contemporary British Painting at Art Bermondsey Project Space.
Since January 2011 she has been a regular contributor to the online art journal Studio International, both writing review and interviews and presenting interviews and studio visits to camera. She is Assistant Editor for Art Quarterly (Art Fund), former Deputy Editor for State media and former Arts Editor for DIVA magazine. She also writes catalogue essays, reviews, interviews and profiles for various online and print publications, including Photomonitor and Elephant magazine.
In autumn 2013, Anna completed an MA in History of Art at Birkbeck, University of London.
