Adam Hennessey Pigeon to Dove
March 15th – April 28th 2018
New Art Projects are delighted to show a new body of work by Adam Hennessey. After creating a special project for the London Art Fair these new works are now installed at the gallery.
Hennessey has made nine new small canvasses exploring a change of scale that began in his 2016 painting “Fat Lamb”. In these new works he has looked at his application of paint and, making reference to his comics and his works on paper has included a new ‘drawn’ quality.
This is particularly visible in “Sugar Daddy: and “Sheepy”. There is also a plethora of cunning and surrealistic humour to be found. In “Cabbage” an eye stares out balefully and in “Pizza” a slice of reverse pepperoni seems to be levitating above the pavement.
Hennessey has also produce a beautiful new print, entitled “Counting to Ten” each of the edition is a hand screened lino cut, embellished with nail varnish.
