Zachari Logan awarded 150th Canadian Anniversary Commission

As part of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation the McMicheal Museum in Toronto has offered Zachari Logan a commission to respond to and work in the studio of Tom Thompson. The McMichael is renowned for exclusively collecting Canadian art. The permanent collection consists of almost 6,000 artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Inuit and other artists who have made a contribution to Canada’s artistic heritage. The Group of Seven came together in the early twentieth century and were committed to exploring the landscapes of Canada. The McMichael houses thirteen exhibition galleries . Zachari has been invited to fly there in January to begin work responding to the collection. The culmination of the award will be an exhibition that will open in July 2017 until November. http://www.mcmichael.com/about/
